I applaud you for rejecting the whole armored swimsuit thing, I don't care for it much either.
I think the armor is very well done, but to me the face feels a bit funky. If I had a guess, it would be the nose and jawline that irks me. Overall, good job.

My friend summed up the face by telling me it looks like kindergarten aid in plate armor :) I don't know what's wrong with jaw tbh, maybe line is too straight? I had some more manga-like face construction on mind while drawing but maybe it got lost somewhere on the way

I really dislike the proportion, most notably how the neck seems to be at a 3/4th's angle while everything else is a forward pose. His right leg seems to be turned funny, and the arms feel lifeless.
i know proportion is my main weakness but i don't know what you mean by
"3/4th's angle"
I have a basic picture of this character that i use to draw different costumes on, thats why he is posed the way he is, i have 2 other costumes in my gallery so far.

I have a few nitpicks, mostly to have to do with the faces. I really dislike the direction their eyes are pointing, it seems to almost give them a lifeless, vacant stare. Shepard's mouth bugs me too, it's nearly invisible. Overall, I can tell you were much more careful drawing Liara.
shapard was harder to draw, there is alot more detail in his line art then liara's,
but liara was painted better.
i might add to it one day,
there are a few small things i don't like about it either but it was taking too long to finish
